Blackwork Print 8, published around 1620 by Claes Jansz. Visscher after designs by Georg Arnoldt, presents a sheet of small motifs originally intended for goldsmiths’ work. Drawn as studies for decorative metal objects, these patterns once guided the making of intricate forms.
Preserved today as an archival print, they reappear here as a contemporary garment design; ornaments crossing materials and centuries to enter everyday life once again.

Garment Care — Curatorial Note
This garment carries a printed image recovered from an archival object.
To preserve the fabric and design:
- Wash inside out at low temperatures
- Iron inside out
- Avoid tumble drying whenever possible
- Air dry flat
Handled with care, the image will remain clear for longer.
Yet time is also part of every object’s life. If you prefer, allow the garment to fade, soften, and slowly wear. In doing so, the design continues its quiet passage through time — much like the object from which it once emerged.
